Tennent’s Lager has kicked off the Euro 2016 football qualifiers with the creation of a pointer app, which aims to help the Tartan Army communicate with locals.
The app – a follow up to the paper guides previously given to football fans – covers all the essentials: public transport, hotel rooms, stadiums and beer. Fans simply need to select the desired service and point, Tennent’s said.
Jane Cannon, spokesperson for Tennent’s Lager, said: “The Tartan Army are renowned for their passion and dedication to supporting the national side, but like any traveller, sometimes getting around can be a bit of a challenge if you don’t know the language.
“The image of Scotland fans pointing at a book in order to find a pint brought a smile to our faces, so we thought we’d give the classic pointer book an update for 2014.
“It can’t make the referee point to the spot in Scotland’s favour on September 7, but hopefully by the final whistle we’ll all have something to celebrate.”
Available on Android and desktop, the app is available ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, which begins in Dortmund on 7 September against Germany.
