“If you could choose to be gay or straight, what would you choose?”
That was the question California vlogger Chris Thompson posed to his LGBTQ followers in a recent video.
He was prompted to ask the question after watching 19-year-old Georgian Daniel Pearce’s shocking video where he was abused by his family for being gay.
In his video, Thompson reads the responses aloud, which range from heartening (“I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s not always easy but I married the right person”) to sad (“It’s not like I don’t like myself for being gay, but would have to pick straight, to (sic) much hate, almost died in a hate crime”).
Moved by their replies, he briefly breaks down, before reading responses from his followers on whether they thought being gay was a choice.
At the end of the video, he urges gay people to be proud of who they are, and to be true to themselves.
