Channel 4 to scrap 4OD and create new hub for catch-up and live streaming: All 4

Channel 4 has revealed that it is 4OD service is set to be scrapped as part of a new initiative, to make way for a new online hub called All 4.

The new hub will incorporate the catch-up TV function of 4OD, while also allowing users to live stream Channel 4 shows.

Channel 4 chief executive David Abraham, who is set to unveil the initiative in a keynote speech at the IBC conference in Amsterdam today, Thursday 11 September, said the launch of All 4 will “deliver the most advanced broadcaster response to changing viewer behaviour in the digital age”.

He added that the move “will help ensure that our content portfolio remains an important, valued part of viewers’ TV consumption for decades to come.”

As well as allowing users to watch shows from the past and live streaming, All 4 will have a section dedicated to shows that are coming soon, showcasing new programme clips and promos, and allowing viewers to set reminders and alerts.
